Atomic world-jazz-flemenco!!
Sultans of String are Canada’s ambassadors of musical diversity. The band romps through an energized adventure of Latin, Middle Eastern, Gypsy–jazz and folk rhythms, celebrating musical fusion and human creativity with warmth and virtuosity.  Fiery violin dances with rumba-flamenco guitar while a funk bass lays down unstoppable grooves.  Acoustic strings meet electronic wizardry to create layers and depth of sound, exciting audiences to their feet with the irresistible need to dance.

Six-string violinist and bandleader Chris McKhool (who has guest starred with Jesse Cook and Pavlo), will be joined for this concert with guitarist nonpareil Kevin Laliberté (Jesse Cook, The Chieftains), and bass master David Woodhead (Stan Rogers, Loreena McKennitt).

Wonderful night -Chalk Lake Concert

If you couldn't join us, you missed a wonderful, magical evening on Sept. 20th at Chalk Lake near Port Perry.  A clear night, beautiful lake with starry sky above a 1930's dance hall where a rapt and happy audience enjoyed the whimsical, zany talents of Wendell Ferguson.   Hilarious songs and sizzling fingerpicking.  Lots of laughter, good times and funds raised to support the work of ArtsCan Circle.

A big thank-you to Tina Harvey for donating the venue and helping fill it with friends.  Also thanks to Lillian Hall who helped organize and all the generous sponsors:
H &R Block, Uxbridge; Native Focus, Port Perry; WindReach Farm, Sally & Sandy Mitchell, Donna Miller, Judy Gregg, Frank & Ann Cummings, Tera from Barnies Horse Treats, Meta4 Gallery & Brooklin Bakery.

Summer = Festival Season

Our sincere thanks to the Mariposa Folk Festival and the Ottawa Folk Festival for hosting ArtsCan Circle displays at their festivals.  We heard some great music while we met more wonderful folks interested in helping in the work of ArtsCan Circle.

Thanks to all those folks who stopped by to chat, signed our email list or donated instruments. The Circle of support continues to grow and we hope to offer people more opportunities to become involved in the work of the ArtsCan Circle in the future.

SCRAPBOOKER?   We're also looking for someone to maintain the ArtsCan Circle archives.  If you like keeping scrapbooks and photo albums and would like to help let us know!
