Thanks for the Drums and Harmonicas!

Our sincere thanks to all the people who responded to our request for assistance for funds to purchase drums and harmonicas.  The children and youth of Wabaseemoong (Whitedog), ON and Dokis, ON benefitted greatly from your generosity.  We were able to deliver 10 hand drums to Wabaseemoong and Ron Kantuski made good use of them with the students during our visit to their community.  The drums will be looked after by the Native Culture teachers who were very happy to have them to add to their programs.  They teach the children about the traditions of their culture and further their language skills in Ojibwe.

All the students in Dokis were thrilled to receive their own harmonicas to keep.  They had a great time learning to play harmonica with David Joyce on our visit to their community and even collaborated with the songwriters on a special Harmonica Blues number that they played at the final performance for the community.

Youth in Dokis perform the "Harmonica Break Blues" at the final concert with Katherine Wheatley, David Joyce, Marty Restoulle (guitar) & James Dokis (drums).

Stay tuned for more reports from our recent trips in the next newsletter!
