January! Myth, Australia prep, sneak peek, farewell drinks!
WHEW! Happy everything, friends!
We've survived the holiday season! (aaaand - Happy 12th Night, btw - the twelfth day of Christmas has just passed - perhaps you can take down the tree before the 2nd of February - also known as Candlemas...)
We simpletons are now in the PACKING season - all the details and logsitcs of getting ready to leave for AUSTRALIA... which is going to be prefaced by a ONE WEEKEND ONLY run of MYTH UNDERSTANDINGS at Second Story Rep in Redmond, Washington, a mere two weeks before we fly to Australia, and an 8-week tour. (In fact, we PREMIERE GERDA'S JOURNEY at wineries in the Barossa Valley in 5 weeks! Wheeee!)
But BEFORE all that excitement-
COME ON OVER - TO REDMOND! - Help sparkle up the doldrums of late, boring ol' January with a fast-paced, punny sidelong look at myths and fairytales, and help out not one but TWO theater companies.
SNEAK PEEK!!
Later in the month, we're going to let you watch one of our final rehearsals of one our shows (*gulp*), and if you like, send us off to Oz with a drink in hand, and a glint in our collective eyes.
TIME/DATE: 3:00pm January 30, at CANOE SOCIAL CLUB. (Canoe Social Club is located at Theatre Off Jackson in the former space of the Wing Luke Museum at 409 7th Ave South, Seattle, WA 98104.) Keep tabs online via Facebook! Or email us directly to pop you onto the invite list) C'MON - Cheap, friendly drinks! (Maybe we'll wrangle up Aussie wine!)
>> Hey! I want to be the FIRST TO KNOW all things simpletons!

MYTH UNDERSTANDINGS at Second Story Repertory January 15-17, 2010
MYTH UNDERSTANDINGS helps out Second Story RIGHT BEFORE before theater simple leaves for Australia for 8-week tour! (Whee! YIKES!)
A funny, physical & sideways look at myths and fairytales and their battle to survive in our world of technology.
A "high-energy, funny, imaginative show" Myth Understandings begins as futuristic scientists are test-driving a new personal thinking device, the "iHed", containing all the world’s stories.
Technical disaster ensues. (Of course.)
For kids. Really. (The adults just get all the jokes)
ONE WEEKEND ONLY! At Second Story Repertory - 16587 NE 74th Street, Redmond, WA 98052
7:00pm, Friday Jan. 15
1pm & 4pm Saturday Jan. 16 and Sunday Jan. 17
TICKET INFO: ALL TICKETS $9 Audience: all ages .
Reserve by calling 425.881.6777
If YOU HAVE KIDS, or KNOW PEOPLE in the SEATTLE-AREA WITH KIDS: please consider copying this information or forwarding this email with a little note. As you can imagine, much of this happened very abruptly, and your passing along the info will help us reach the audiences we'd love to have.
We are honored to help out Second Story Repertory, the Eastside's only professional theater, as they work to keep their doors open, since budget cuts forced their Family Theater production to be cancelled.
AND As a bonus, Seattle and Eastside audiences get a chance to see our acclaimed, rock'em-sock'em family show, the high-energy, hugely physical production at the juicy peak of readiness for AUSTRALIA!

Thank YOU for all you are
As the year turns(like - since Thanksgiving) we are relentlessly told to reflect, think, ponder the meanings of a life/family/connection/cyclical change -
We wanted you to know that we think about this sort of thing ALL the time - for us, part of being an artist equals thinking about how our lives reflect others, how a story can mean different things to different people depending on who they are, and what they need to listen for, and how they intersect with it.
We want to thank you (and we just wish we could do it live, in person) for challenging us to ask ourselves the pokey questions; to seriously consider the silly answer might be the right one; to figure out the most magical 'TADAH!' without the budget; trust us with your time, your children, your opinions and your comments.
Please - keep asking - keep us thinking - keep us on our toes. When we ask "Questions? Comments? Invective?" we mean it. We're listening.
We've got big honkin' plans for this year! We hope you'll play along, and that we'll see you in the theater, in the park, on a bench, with your iPod, your camera, your eyes, your hearts -
>> I'd like to help the simpletons along. Here's my tax-deductible donation~
