Support Staff Salary Negotiations
The support staff salary settlement for 2005/06 remains outstanding as the University of Alberta and Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA) are currently in negotiations, endeavouring to finalize a new collective agreement for the support staff. Although an agreement may be reached and ratified before March 31, 2006, the University will not have sufficient time to process any negotiated staff settlement through the payroll system before the year end closes.
The new agreement is expected to include a provision for retroactive pay (effective April 1, 2005); therefore, the University must provide for an estimated accrued salary expense in the University's March 31, 2006 financial statements. This estimate may not equate to the final negotiated settlement. Until the accrual is processed, current financial reports do not allow for any of the potential costs arising from the settlement. This applies to all reports whether viewed through RGR, nVision or eTRAC.
Financial Services has processed an accrual entry. Full details about this entry are available on the RSO website.

RSO forms: to download or save
Clarification from February Research FUNDamentals The February 15 issue of Research FUNDamentals advised that RSO forms should be downloaded each time one is needed. However, RSO has received feedback that it is more convenient to save frequently used RSO forms, pre-filled.
We appreciate your feedback and suggest that since RSO forms are currently in transition, please watch for announcements in Research FUNDamentals or Target Point when a form is added or updated and replace your saved forms accordingly.
