eTRAC unavailable during planned upgrades The University of Alberta is upgrading its PeopleSoft Financials and Purchasing environment from version 8.4 to version 8.9. The upgrade is targeted for completion on October 30, 2006. Because eTRAC resides within the PeopleSoft Financials system, it is affected by this upgrade. eTRAC will be unavailable from October 23 to October 27. Read the whole article, including all key dates between October 18 and October 30. Tri-Agency Financial Administration Guide 2006 now available The Financial Administration section of the Tri-Agency Financial Administration Guide was recently updated and posted to the NSERC website. Unless otherwise indicated, these guidelines apply to the three federal granting agencies (NSERC, SSHRC and CIHR). Sections that pertain to only one agency are clearly indicated throughout the guide. The guidelines are provided to assist researchers and institutional administrators in their interpretation of the acceptable use of public funds. In the absence of a clear understanding of a federal granting agency's policy, the institution is to seek a ruling from that agency's finance division. Researchers and administrators are encouraged to communicate with their Research Facilitation Office if the changes made will affect their research project(s) and/or if they have any questions. Get the Guide. Update your budgets: lower GST for the U of A The U of A recovers two-thirds of all GST it pays. This means that with the new national rate of 6%, the new U of A rate of unrecoverable GST is 1.98%, down from the previous 2.31%. When budgeting for research projects, please remember to include GST and use the new rate of 1.98%. More details on GST can be found in the Guide to Financial Management website.
