Who you gonna call?

Other campus contacts for research administration

Even if "Research" isn't in their title, several other units at the University of Alberta are involved in activities that are associated with research administration. These include, for example,  Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Ethics Office, Supply Management Services and others.

Why would you contact these other departments? Visit the Other Campus Contacts for Research page on the RSO website.

Remote Receipting

Researchers ask a Research Facilitator a question; we share the answer with you

Q: How can I get reimbursed for occasional payments to local informants who work with me as assistants?

Q: In my remote fieldwork, I might have a person provide me a canoe trip across the river. How are they to be reimbursed and what is an appropriate record to show this reimbursement?

A: Some sort of documentation signed by the recipient indicating the amount given and the recipient's name and contact information should be sufficient back-up documentation for expense reimbursement. Ultimately, the documentation's acceptability would be at the discretion of the auditor if the project is reviewed. Also, if this type of expense is anticipated, be sure to include it in the project budget.

If you have a question about research administration, contact your Faculty's Research Facilitator. If they don't know the answer right away, they'll track it down for you.
