Grants 2.0
The Grants Management Phase 2 project (or GRANTS 2.0) is now in the design stage. The project team is working with key stakeholder groups to determine the best method to capture data and other processes. When completed in 2008, Grants 2.0 will combine pre-award activities for research grants and contracts with post-award fiscal management functionality, ensure greater control over the University’s allocation of research dollars and provide grant information to the whole research community. These objectives will be met primarily through the implementation of the PeopleSoft Grants and Contracts modules and integration with existing PeopleSoft Financials modules, but also through changes to processes and financial procedures.
More information about Grants 2.0 can be found online on the RSO website.

Professional Accreditation for Support Staff
Some members of support staff are required by their department or Faculty to have professional accreditation, certification or designation as a requirement of their jobs. In those cases, the unit responsible for the employee will pay the expense up to a set amount per fiscal year. With regards to research projects, some granting agencies may not consider accreditation as an eligible expense; therefore, these expenses cannot be charged to the project. Please speak to your Faculty-assigned Research Facilitation Office or department administrators should you have any questions about your research project and eligible expenses. You may also view this policy online.

Project Status and Process Status
With the upgrade to PeopleSoft 8.9, changes occurred to rules assigned to PROJECT Status and PROCESS Status fields. In the PROJECT Status field, projects may either be Open or Closed. The PROCESS Status field can be set to Active or Inactive. Prior to the upgrade, if a project was set to "Inactive", transactions could not post to the project. With the upgrade, transactions cannot be posted when the PROJECT Status is changed to Closed. Since a number of reports only currently indicate whether the project is Active or Inactive, one must also confirm whether the project is Open or Closed. To view these fields in eTRAC, Principal Investigators or their administrators can go to Project List > Inquire Online > Overview.
