Upcoming Year End Processes and Deadlines

By now, most units in the University of Alberta have received information from Financial Services regarding the year end schedule for financial processes. RSO would like to advise all project holders and their administrators that these deadlines should be considered in relation to research projects. Once the final cut offs for processing accounts payable invoices, travel and expense claims and payroll have passed, we will be unable to include those expenses in financial statements we prepare for granting agencies for periods ending March 31, 2008.

Please ensure that all expenses that belong in research projects for periods ending March 31, 2008 are considered in relation to the deadlines provided by Financial Services. We encourage everyone to review the Year End 2008 Campus Schedule document on the Financial Services website.

Some key dates to keep in mind are as follows:

  • Unit Final Cut Off to SMS - April 2, 2008
  • Travel and Expense Cut Off - April 3, 2008
  • Payroll deadlines - please see the Human Resources Services website

Life of a Grant Seminar

The next seminar, Life of a Grant, will be held on February 11th in Room 207, Heritage Medical Research Centre from 2-3:30 p.m. This is an introductory session for staff new to research administration or research administrators looking to enhance their knowledge inthis area. Topics include policies and administrative processes & procedures relating to the Life of a Grant.
